Interesting. Deadlines are clearly different for different schools.

[deleted]

Of course. At a basic level, some schools start 6 weeks before others. Applications come at a certain point in the cycle after school orientation, resume workshops, kickoff events, coffee chats, closed list events, etc.

kibuloh

Our apps aren’t even due until later this week

[deleted]

Yup. Quarter schools typically not due until v. late November or December. Used to be mid-December, after finals. Most have crept forward.

APRForReddit

Just a note to the readers that isn’t all quarter schools. Tuck is a quarter school and invited came out a week or two ago with interviews the first week of Jan

[deleted]

Good to know. That crept up a bunch in 4 years.

APRForReddit

I’ve always found it funny (as a 2nd year tuck student that interned at McKinsey and is headed there FT). Probably about 4 years ago, the core curriculum was changed and specifically designed to help students recruiting for consulting (as implied by the associate dean - Joe Hall.) Yet both my interviews at McKinsey and BCG had operations or agile cases, which isn’t something you’d be exposed to until winter term (after recruiting)

[deleted]

At my firm, cases were assigned to each interviewer. If you really didnt like your assigned case, you could ask for a different one. None of the six cases I gave, 4 live ones and 2 practice ones, over four years, were ops or agile. Just luck of the draw.

Likely mid next week for T15/T20 schools (based on timing from last year) for the general app submission deadline today

MBABurner2395

Is it possible to apply for MBB locations o/s the US for on campus recruiting at an M7, or is it just US locations ?

tmac187

You can recruit international

2022MBAHopeful

Thanks. I wonder if it would be easier (or less competitive) to recruit for MBB in Canada from an M7 than in the US as a Canadian international

[deleted]

>Is it possible to apply for MBB locations Absolutely. Most major regions/systems will rep in-person at campus events. Note that doesn't necessarily mean they are flying people from Singapore and Munich for an event at Columbia. We were pretty good about finding sponsored associates/analysts at each program or consultants on loan to US offices for at least the kickoff events. Picking up your comment below... >easier (or less competitive) to recruit for MBB in Canada from an M7 than in the US as a Canadian international Maybe, especially if the Canadian offices are hard up for people / have high target #s that year. I had one (so, a very small sample) classmate that was strongly encouraged (almost bullied) into putting 2 CAN offices as his first choice with one firm. He ended up in NYC with another firm. I would not worry about being Canadian holding you back from US offices, if that's what you want. Of all places, work auth for Canadians is pretty easy due to USMCA (aka 'new NAFTA'). TN status is relatively easy to get (except briefly under Trump admin) and the 'intent to return' standard is pretty gray. I've also seen some shady L1 visas go through. Those are in addition to the H1-B crapshoot.

This is very thorough and helpful. Thanks!

[deleted]

One more thought: most of my Canadian M7 classmates who joined MBB did so in US offices. Most CAN offices are staffed by Canadians (from US and Canadian schools) or previous exchange students to Canadian schools. There are precious few target schools in Canada. I'm sure you could rattle them off without much thought.

2022MBAHopeful

My preference would certainly be a US office, but I thought I may have a chance at Canadian offices if the US ones don’t go my way.

BCG just went out, McK and Bain expected any day now
