This game can turn to either side so quickly just from a few mistakes on either side and people still kill themselves at 5 gens.

Dry-Sell-3723

I hate this, had this happen in my last 4 out of 8 games first hook DC, now i feel like an ass destroying the remaining 3 so it turns into a anti loop practice and farm. It's like my brother in Christ they popped 2 gens right after you hit the 2nd hook state, the game is everything but over.

Sploonbabaguuse

Because some people expect a win handed to them on a silver platter. Both survivors and killers

Floofersnooty

Don't Forget Otz's Law. The person who dropped the map offering will be the most likely to DC and screw their entire team over, despite current game circumstance

HercuKong

Or DC when they see a map offering they don't like.

Faptin580

I disagree, it's quite the opposite actually. Most matches are determined within the first few moments of the game and it doesn't give the other side any help at all to recover. You lose a teammate because the killer tunneled someone out at 4 gens? Yup, good game, you ain't gonna recover from that shit. Killer is bit more forgiving by far, but generally youre not going to get a 4k if 3 gens pop and youre on your first hook. But you still may be able to catch someone in the EGC or snowball something to get everyone down...they at least have decent options. It's the biggest glaring issue with this game by far, but the community will never agree to anything that would fix it. You would have to boost survivors who lose a teammate before 5 gens are done. And you would have to boost killers who lose 2 gens before the first hook. Either side would lose their shit if either got that, so here we are, playing over and over for that one match where everything stays exciting all the way to the end, but to get that we have to play 20 matches where one side wins in the first 3 minutes of the match. This is why I can't take DBD seriously at all while playing, it's all bullshit, better to just fuck around and do stupid shit than play it as a competitive multiplayer game.

jozsiahegyrol

>Killer is bit more forgiving by far That is a contradiction and also false

Faptin580

Well you're entitled to your opinion, but in my own experience it's been far easier to recover playing killer than it has been playing survivor. As a survivor the only thing you can rely on is escaping out of hatch once everyone is dead, and for me that's pretty much a 50/50 chance for me or the killer to find it first. Regardless in that case the killer had already killed 3 people so that's an L anyway for us. I can count on one hand how many times me and my team have overcome someone getting tunneled out early in a match and still escaping out the gates. It's just way too much to multitask with only 3 people left, that leaves only one person doing a gen, one person running the killer, and one person unhooking and healing the other guy. Throw gen regression perks or other perks/powers that require you to get off a gen to cleanse something else and it's pretty much impossible. As a killer there has been plenty of times where I will literally not get a hook until there's 1 gen left, then I manage to pull off a snowball effect and down 1 more and injure others. Then I have two survivors hooked and everything just sorta goes downhill from there. Most of the time the gens get done and they get the gates open, but it's not uncommon at all for me to get at least 1-2 players dead before that happens. The EGC can be even more of a wildcard if I have someone hooked. I'll have all the survivors show up to save one guy, and their attempt fails with me downing 3 for the price of 1. That's just my overall experience though, not sure why it's so different for you, but feel free to explain.

tldr012020

It's not just # of gens, it's *which gens*. There are many maps where if survivors can get center gen finished by one teammate dead they're in good shape if everyone else has 2 hook states left each, even with 4 gens to go. They're in way better shape than a team that has 4 survivors and 2 gens left but who only did outer gens and now need to contend with an ugly 4 gen. You need to be really thoughtful about which gens you target early. My SWF often gets at least 2 or 3 man escapes even with early tunneling. We will pressure the most strategic gens really early, especially if it's close to chase with a teammate tunneled. We force the killer to choose: our teammate they want to tunnel or this strategic gen we are doing in their face. If they choose our teammate we normally clinch key gens and the gen spread is hard for the killer to counter (unless nurse).

viscountrhirhi

I’ll admit, on a bad day after several bad games in a row where I’m the first tunneled out, I can get tilted and be tempted to suicide on hook when I’m yet again the 1st one found and hooked. It’s that sense of OH FFS. But I still stick it out and, in a fair number of those matches, that bad start is not the end and the rest of the match goes fine. |: SO MUCH can turn on a dime in both roles. That happens in my killer matches, too, where 4 gens pop fast and things seem bleak—but then we get stuck at 1 gen for like 10 minutes and I manage to 4k after the last gen pops. It’s very hard to predict how the game will go—who will make a mistake, who will make some amazing play. Little maneuvers can turn the tides in a big way.

ZombieOrchid

I can't stand people that ragequit for stupid reasons, honestly. I always get told it's because I play Trickster, but I don't care. You signed up to play a game with 4 other people - don't ragequit over stupid things. I don't like playing against several Killers but I still try to play. If I have a match that's going rough for me as Trickster, I still try to play. I had a match a little while ago where this David decided he wanted to play around a pallet. Well, I could hit him with knives so staying at the pallet wasn't a good idea. He stayed at the pallet anyways so I downed him and when I picked him up, he DC'd. At 5 gens. Then the Meg started fast vaulting a pallet repeatedly so I downed her and picked her up and she DC'd. Like what did I do wrong there that justified DCing at the beginning of the match? It's not my fault if a Survivor makes poor choices and pays for it xD

Sploonbabaguuse

The only thing you did wrong was expect a reasonable match where people accept making mistakes and continue playing

ZombieOrchid

I suppose so :\\ I make mistakes all the time. I've had chases where I lasted 5 seconds because I got stuck on something or the Killer did a good mindgame or DBD was just being janky like always. I say oh well and wait to get unhooked. I also sometimes loop myself while the Survivor is long gone. I say "Oh, I'm a dumbass xD" and move on. I don't get why people give up so fast but it will never change I guess xD

Sploonbabaguuse

Some people's pride is more important than just being a good sport. That's just a part of humanity, although DBD seems to be a magnet for those people

ZombieOrchid

That is true and it's a shame.

OrranVoriel

I had a match earlier tonight where two survivors rage quit so I gave the last man standing the hatch since the two sore losers screwed them over hard. The sore losers came into my stream after rage quitting and started trash talking me with one of them whining that I 'tunneled' even after they got the 4% and unhooked themselves. My response was "I get killers that don't 'respect the 4%' when I'm playing survivor so why should I? Also, you unhooked yourself when I was right above you kicking the generator by the basement stairs. Am I supposed to just let you run by?" Also had a survivor rage quit when he got hit by one of my Guards. I don't think it even downed him, just wounded him, and it's not like the Knight can control who the Guards chase; it's whoever they spot first inside the detection range.

ZombieOrchid

I've never had a Killer respect the 4% so I respect it when I play Killer because I choose to. I never expect the Killer to respect it when I do it because why should they? They're supposed to kill me xD I'm sorry they harassed you over it :\\

OrranVoriel

Meh, I have been insulted by far worse people before. I timed them out and just moved on. It's a risk you take when you put TTV in your username to try and promote your stream a little. Like I said, I haven't had killers respect the 4% for me when I play survivor so why should I respect it when I play Killer? Salty as this community can be, World of Warships is even worse. I have literally had people tell me to kill myself because I played an aircraft carrier or submarine there.

ZombieOrchid

It's good that it didn't bother you all that much. It's sad that people get so heated over games. They take so many things personally and I don't know why xD;

OrranVoriel

Well in WoWS at least, carriers and subs are... divisive to put it one way. Like I said, I have suffered worse and if I let trolls get under my skin like that, they win. Better to just ignore them. Had someone accuse me of cheating the other day in another Knight match, actually. I just shrugged it off and ignored them. Can't recall the last time someone accused me of cheating.

aliencreative

Normalize not being a shit teammate

aliencreative

LOL I started a 100 no dc streak. And promptly I was greeted with 1. A nurse and 2. A CLAUDETTE NAMED BLENDETTE who was GRIEFING ME AND SANDBAGGING. I still didn’t dc but boy I wish I had 😂😂😂😂

AqueousSilver91

Had a Blendette last night too. She was SO busy hiding, she didn't see me coming. Was the second to die only because I had to chase someone. One to the four to the two to the three, hiding is never safe from me.

aliencreative

OMG IT WAS THEM!!!! She saved me from hook then refused to heal me, fair enough. I hid somehow. Then she followed me around tbagging, spamming lockers and just wouldnt stop no matter what I did. * ALSO, our 2 teammates (duo prob) got downed and and she wouldnt help them so I did. I got downed BUT I hit my unbreakable and saved THE TEAM but I was the ONLY ONE WHO DIED. rip. Claud did nothing but take 1 accidental hit and self care in the corner. Literally left the other 2 alone which is so odddd.. I WAS ALSO PLAYING MIKAILA FORGOT TO SAY THAT IDK IF IT MATTERS.

AqueousSilver91

Wait wait wait. Were you the Mikaela on the Corn Map the other night? Because if so, seeing you get excited I caught you at the Gen makes you such a qt pi. :3 I know I didn't bring my all that game. I got confused in the corn. Good job with the team save man! :D I ironically got ANOTHER Blendette a few rounds later in the Cabin map and that time, I smoked the whole team.

aliencreative

i dont think that was me. remember the name? what was mik wearing?? it mightve been me if she was wearing the battlepass fit (yellowboots).

ByuntaeKid

Damn, that's really rough. Just this morning I was playing trapper against some folks who sent me to Eyrie - Feng disconnected at 4 gens cause I grabbed her off of a window. Idk man, some people just need to take a break from the game if small things like that get them to d/c.

Artimedias

I'm pretty chill in this game, but the one thing that always makes me rage is people killing themselves on hook, or fucking over their teammates

aliencreative

Normalize not being a sandbagging/griefing teammate

JamieTIH

Weirdly, I find this subreddit community to be very toxic, but I only rarely come across BMing in game - actually most of my games are friendly and good fun. However, I do think there should be a BP penalty to hitting a survivor on hook or crouching repeatedly whilst at the exit gates.

Elegant-Raise-9367

I think I've had about 4 games with real toxicity in the last 6 months. Personally I think they are Hilarious. Tonight's was a TTV who got pissed cuz I wouldn't take a hook for them, even tho I'm on the other side of the map from where their 3 man swf were trying to bully a hag.

Awesomeismyname13

Omfg I freaking hate ttvs they be doing so much, and so little, also hate how they tend to bully the poor killers.

Elegant-Raise-9367

I will only go and watch ones I have seen be good teammates. Have a few on my list now. There's some great ones out there.

Awesomeismyname13

Yeah, I just saity today, I got like 5 ttvs in a row all they were just blinding the killer, ended with everyone being slugged, and I was doing all the gens 😭😭😭

ilovecraftbeer05

Oof. The other day, someone raged quit two minutes into a trial because they were the first survivor I hooked. I literally hooked them one time and then they disconnected. Sent me a message to call me a “tunneling piece of shit.” I’ll never understand some of the crybabies that play this game. Go play something else instead of constantly letting your teammates down by bailing on them whenever things don’t go your way.

ByuntaeKid

Yeah last night me and some friends got a 3 escape against a knight. In the postgame chat he called us “baby survivors that need perks and items to gen rush.” My brother in entity, it was one person with Deja Vu, one brown toolbox, one event toolbox and no add-ons. I really don’t get people sometimes.

ilovecraftbeer05

I just don’t understand that. Perks and items exist to be used. All is fair in this game. That’s my attitude towards it. Even annoying shit like tunneling and gen rushing and body blocking. I personally try to avoid doing that stuff but if it clenches you the win and there’s no penalty against it, then have at it. The survivors’ goal is to survive. The killer’s goal is to kill. That’s the entire premise of this game. Anything you can do to achieve those goals is fair game, in my opinion. If we all have to start following some unwritten handbook of DBD etiquette, then the game just becomes as boring and straightforward as Pong. I only follow two rules in this game. Number one is absolutely no rage quitting. Number two is absolutely no helping the killer. Everything else is perfectly fine in my book.

IndigoRed126

Even when I'm hooked on five gens remaining I'm never killing myself on hook because the number of times I just had a bad start is higher than number of truly hopeless games. But that probably goes only for me.

Floofersnooty

At this point I just saw GG and move on. Because very rarely do you ever get a GG back, just angry REEs or a steam forum post about how awful you were

kiefenator

Unpopular opinion: Normalize leaving games where you aren't having fun (provided you aren't being an ass in the process). Time is precious. If you, as a killer or survivor, find yourself in a match where you aren't having fun, eg: survivors or killers are playing bully builds, you aren't responsible for their fun, you're responsible for your own fun. They've made it clear that they aren't going to play with your fun in mind, so don't force yourself to play matches that just aren't fun. It'll just sap your ability to enjoy the game. I think lots of people like to forget that this is just supposed to be a fun little game. It will never be truly balanced, as there are way too many variables, of which player skill is only a small factor. So if you can't reasonably play to win, the only thing you can reasonably do is play for fun. And for everyone else, if you are experiencing a ton of players quitting your games, perhaps it's time to look inwards and see if how you're playing is detrimental to the fun of others. If players quitting is detrimental to your fun, then necessarily you have to adjust your play style so others aren't quitting so much, provided the gross gain in fun outweighs the net loss in fun you get from having switched your builds and play styles.

ByuntaeKid

I agree, and in cases of toxicity/bullying I feel like leaving is perfectly fine. In those cases the other side has forgone sportsmanship and is playing with the intent to grief you instead of actually playing the game the way it was intended. I mostly posted this meme more towards killers who disconnect when they see 4 flashlights, a bad map offering, or multiple boons - or survivors who disconnect early at the slightest sense that things aren't going their way.

kiefenator

I think, even in most of those cases, DCing is perfectly justified: • 4 flashlights is usually indicative of a bully team. They've made the statement that they intend to swarm you and not play the objective. • On some maps, some killers are just unplayable. Trapper is at an uncontrollable disadvantage on maps with no grass or ground geometry, for instance, and not everybody wants to play with an randomized handicap. • Multiple boons is the only one that seems unreasonable to DC. That one's case by case though, I should think. • If tons of survivors are DCing when you're playing them, and it bothers you, I think you should look at how you're playing and adjust how you play so they don't DC. If them DCing doesn't bother you, carry on.

Sploonbabaguuse

I read "Normalize leaving games" and stopped reading, bad take. If you normalize leaving everytime you stop having fun this game will literally lose all of its players. You can't play a game to win without risk of losing. Idk why I have to even say that, you're not going to win every match. Does that mean you quit as soon as you start to lose?

kiefenator

Losing isn't unfun though. If you actually read my comment, I address that. I mentioned that because this game will never be balanced, you can never reasonably play to win. Thus all you can do is play for fun. I also address the net and gross gain and loss of fun from having your opponents quit vs changing your loadout so they quit less. It's not about winning or losing at all. Are you the kind of person that only has fun while they're winning?

MCSwaggleTits

I leave on rpd every time no exceptions

Sploonbabaguuse

You could just not play the game if you're going to ruin the match everytime you get a map you don't like

MCSwaggleTits

Nope

szabe3

But why?

edvineris

Its rpd

MCSwaggleTits

It's rpd

FatstinkyFrog

Based. I’ll do the same if that cursed map Hawkins ever sneaks it’s way back in.

Demiipool

No

Brofactslmao

DC against slugging nurse is fair tbh. More so with this update.

crimsonninja117

The second I hear that annoying raspy shreak, I'm out. I refuse to play vs nurse

jaquayvi0ntav1us

Range is gone Recharge is gone 7 blink nurse got fixed from the ptb Seriously what are we complaining about now?

crimsonninja117

I'm not even complaining I refuse to engage with her at all, I play to have fun. There is zero to be had playing against her. I refuse.

jaquayvi0ntav1us

Have fun waiting in the lobby ig

crimsonninja117

The wait time is basicly the sake as playing a match I no with a 95% is a complete waste of time. Yes , I will

jaquayvi0ntav1us

Some people really just dont want to learn how to counter a killer even if it means sitting in the lobby for 15 mins

crimsonninja117

No. I dont care about a counter. I won't play against her till she stops breaking every rule the other killers have to follow. LeArN to CoUnTeR her. No

jaquayvi0ntav1us

I wouldnt say she breaks them, more like bends them. She still has counterplay, it just doesnt revolve around pallets and windows, but more around the environment and how good your pathing is. Shes unique, and honestly id rather face that than 10 trappers in a row with the same boring cycle of "run around a pallet 3-4 times then drop and run to the next"

dumnem

Holy moly you are a cry baby my guy

crimsonninja117

Nah I'm just saying I will DC immediately on every single nurse, and that's the only reason I ever do. Simple

Brofactslmao

I'm just not giving you a free win for playing the most op character in the game, i'll just DC and nobody get's to play a full game. Simple as that.

HighNoonTex

Have y'all considered nor being whiny crybabies?

Brofactslmao

Have you considered reading? I'm just not giving you a win just for using a character that ignores core game mechanics. Don't like it? Suck it. I'll keep DCing as soon as i hear that screech.

crimsonninja117

It's not even op. She ignores every rule that everyone else has to follow.

xd-Sushi_Master

Yup. I pressed the queue button to play Dead By Daylight. Whatever bullshit Nurse is playing isn't Dead by Daylight.

obvnotmine

I don’t play against thanatophobia legion

HighNoonTex

God forbid you use perks that compliment an otherwise weak killer.

WhiskyAtNoon

That's fair

OrranVoriel

I've had some matches where I was getting stomped as the Killer and managed to turn around and secure a 4K when the survivors were down to the last gen. That said, as Killer, I unrepentantly lobby dodge if I suspect I'm up against either a full SWF or I see too many flashlights or toolboxes.

MOEverything_2708

I quit when I see 3 of the same items cuz I know I am jsut gonna not have a good time

Hippic

That "meme" is 100% made by a killer main

HighNoonTex

You think survivors like it when their team is ragequitting? Just play the game, no need to leave.

ByuntaeKid

Nope. Ragequitting sucks all around.

Awesomeismyname13

Like killers don't dc?
